Care Guide

Leather changes with use. That is part of why we choose it.

The goal of care is not to keep every surface looking untouched. It is to protect the material, clean it gently, and let it develop character without unnecessary damage.

The rules that apply to every pair

Start here, whatever the finish. These four habits protect any leather; the mistakes below shorten its life.

Do Every pair

  • Wipe dust with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Store in a dry, ventilated place.
  • Let wet areas dry naturally at room temperature.
  • Test any cleaner or conditioner on a small, hidden area first.

Avoid Every pair

  • Soaking or washing like synthetic sandals.
  • Heavy rain and very wet conditions.
  • Direct heat, hair dryers, or strong sunlight for drying.
  • Alcohol wipes, bleach, detergent, and scented wet wipes.
  • Using the same cleaner across every leather finish.

Leather is a natural material. Color, texture, and surface character can change with wear.

By material

Each finish is cleaned and conditioned differently. Match the method to the material, and never carry one cleaner across all four.

Suede leather, soft matte nap

Suede

A soft, matte nap. Because the surface is raised fibre, suede is cleaned dry first.

Use a suede brush to lift dust while the material is dry. For light marks, work gently with a suede eraser. If it gets wet, let it dry naturally, then brush lightly to raise the texture again.

AvoidOrdinary leather cream, oil, wax, or conditioner. These change the surface.

Nubuck leather, fine matte surface

Nubuck

Matte and fine, but it absorbs water and oil readily. Treat it with restraint.

Brush gently with a nubuck or suede brush when dry. For light marks, use a nubuck eraser. If it gets wet, press gently with a dry cloth, let it air dry, then brush lightly once dry.

AvoidSmooth-leather cream. It can change the texture.

Crazy horse leather, waxed with tone variation

Crazy Horse

Made to develop character. Light scuffs, tone shifts, and marks are part of its surface story.

Wipe dust with a soft, dry cloth. For light dirt, use a slightly damp cloth and let the leather dry naturally. A balm or conditioner may darken it, so test first and use very little.

AvoidExpecting it to stay visually perfect. That is not its role.

Nappa leather, smooth clean surface

Nappa

A smoother, cleaner surface, so harsh cleaning shows. Keep the hand light.

Use a soft, dry cloth for dust. For light dirt, use a slightly damp cloth, then let it dry naturally. If the leather feels dry, a small amount of conditioner may be used, but only after testing a hidden area.

AvoidAlcohol, bleach, detergent, scented wet wipes, and too much polish or cream.

What changes are normal

Some marks are simply wear. Suede and nubuck can show changes in nap. Crazy horse develops scuffs and tone variation. Smooth leather can crease. Cork can shift in color and character over time.

What matters is avoiding the mistakes that actually shorten the life of a pair: soaking, harsh cleaners, direct heat, and treating every material the same.

These changes are not always damage. They are part of wearing real materials.

Care starts with knowing the material.
